Welcome to project Between the Celts and the Northern People

We are delighted to welcome you to our project website—a space dedicated to exploring the fascinating world of ancient contacts, inspirations, and encounters. Our initiative focuses on contact zones: dynamic regions where people, objects, and ideas from across Europe met and mingled, especially during the last centuries before the Roman era.

Through archaeological discoveries, the study of material culture, and the collaborative work of an international team, we shed new light on the cultural landscapes of Central and Northern Europe at the dawn of history. We aim to show that the North European Plain was not an isolated periphery, but a vibrant crossroads and laboratory of innovation, where new forms, practices, and identities emerged.

By sharing the latest research results, expert interviews, and accessible articles, we invite you to discover how the world of La Tène intersected with local traditions—from the Lusatian culture, through the Przeworsk horizon, to the present day.

We encourage you to follow our updates, ask questions, and explore the stories hidden in the objects and landscapes of ancient encounters. Together, we can uncover how new ideas arose from the meeting of worlds—and what these processes can teach us about our own times.
